That's just how Hiccup Hegseth rolls
Incompetent defense secretary pauses at Easter egg event to blast media that repeatedly nails him
Intro by Sam Bellamy
Pete Hegseth made an appearance at the annual Easter Egg Roll at the White House this morning and took a few moments to rant at reporters about the latest humiliating story on his ineptitude as Pentagon chief.
In this clip below, you’ll hear the former Fox News host complain that “hoaxsters” in the media are making up stories about him using quotes from disgruntled former employees.
The problem is that Petey is amassing quite a collection of former employees “with an axe to grind,” as he puts it. Last week, he fired three senior staffers last week in the latest wave of dismissals — establishing an impressive rate of turnover for a guy who just started the job just three months.
Some of the firings are related to investigations of leaks at the Pentagon — and, no, we’re not talking about Hegseth’s habit of sharing war plans on an unsecured messaging app, including with his wife and brother.
On Sunday, Politico published a column by John Ullyot, who resigned as Pentagon spokesman last week after what he described as a “month from hell.”
Ullyot, who was an avid supporter of Hegseth’s nomination, obviously has soured on his boss. He wrote that the “building is in disarray” and “many in the secretary’s own inner circle will applaud quietly” if Trump fires him.
In an ordinary presidential administration, Hegseth would have been booted after the first revelation that he endangered fighter pilots and other military personnel by disclosing war plans on Signal. He certainly would have been fired after Sunday’s New York Times report on the second Signal chat group, which Hegseth carried out on his personal phone.
More bozo bombs are coming, it appears.
“There are very likely more shoes to drop in short order, with even bigger bombshell stories coming this week, key Pentagon reporters have been telling sources privately,” Ullyot wrote.
It would be entertaining, if it weren’t so dangerous.
Trump’s short list for a replacement of Hegseth at DoD are Colonel Sanders, General Mills, Lieutenant Dan, Captain Crunch, General Dynamic Admiral Picard, Captain Kirk and Deputy Dog.
