'Your agency acts as if the election gave you some mandate to violate the Constitution'
Sen. Chris Murphy blasts Kristi Noem and Republicans for blatantly illegal activities

In recent weeks, Donald Trump has waged a steady, dangerous attack on judges who rule against his administration’s brazenly illegal activities.
Much of his wrath is directed at James Boasberg, the chief judge for the U.S. District Court in Washington D.C., who is considering charges of criminal contempt of court against the administration for defying an order to stop deporting immigrants under the 1798 Alien Enemies Act.
Trump wants Boasberg, among others, removed from the bench.
“HE DIDN’T WIN ANYTHING! I WON FOR MANY REASONS, IN AN OVERWHELMING MANDATE,” Trump posted on his misnamed Truth Social site.
In another post, he wrote, “No District Court Judge, or any Judge, can assume the duties of the President of the United States.” In other words, Trump is all powerful and no one should dispute.
Trump didn’t win by an overwhelming mandate, as anyone not in the MAGA cult knows. Although he trounced Kamala Harris in the Electoral College tally, he barely defeated her in the popular vote. His margin of victory was the fourth smallest since 1960. Trump is president of a deeply divided nation and making absolutely no concessions to that fact.
And, even if he had a mandate, there is no scenario in which that would entitle him or any other president to interpret the Constitution and our nation’s laws however he’d like.
That’s the point that Sen. Chris Murphy, a Democrat from Connecticut, repeatedly returns to in the short vide below as he blasts Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem for the administration’s repeated abuses of the law — from spending to violations of court orders.
“Your agency acts as if laws don’t matter, as if the election gave you some mandate to violate the Constitution and the laws passed by this Congress,” he said. “It did not give you that mandate. You act as if your disagreement with the law – or even the public's disagreement with the law – is relevant and gives you the ability to create your own law. It does not give you that ability.”
Murphy has emerged as one of the most effective critics of the administration. His attempt to hold Noem accountable is worth a watch.
Very nice video; a real masterclass by Sen. Murphy.
